IND wins five races at Oregon Ridge
9/16/2009
Julie Gessler of the Institute of Notre Dame posted a
comfortable win against a 45-girls field, as she helped the
Indians capture five individual dual meet victories, as six
IAAM B Conference cross country squads gathered at
Oregon Ridge, on Tuesday.
Emily Peterman of Glenelg Country (22:15) finished
second in the race, spoiling a potential 1-2-3 finish by the
Gessler family and IND. Becky Gessler finished third for
the Indians, followed by Amy Gessler in fourth.
In addition, Colleen Fridley of IND ran sixth to give the
Indians four of the top six runners, as they defeated
Glenelg Country, Park, Friends, St. John's Catholic Prep
and Beth Tfiloh.
IND's closest pursuer was St. John's, but the Indians won
that race handily as well, 20-35.
The Vikings came away with four wins on the day, as they
bunched four runners between places 10-13. Emily
Kinley led the pack, followed by Katherine Bruton, Alex
Asuncion and Elizabeth Harraka.
Rebecca Edelman (9th) and Kristina Satterlee (14th) were
the top finishers for Friends, which came away with three
victories, and Park's Ellie Kahn ran eighth to lead the
Bruins to a pair of wins.
In addition to Peterman, Glenelg Country also got a top 10
finish from Taylor Smith (7th), but unfortunately for the
Dragons, they were the only two entries for the team,
forcing GCS to forfeit all five of its team results.
