Park improves to 2-0 in the C Conference
12/10/2009
Park moved to 2-0 in the IAAM C conference, and 2-1 overall, with a 49-23 win at Glenelg Country School, Wednesday afternoon.
The Bruins were led by junior center Rose Coll’s double-double (fifteen points, ten rebounds), and by the defensive intensity of senior forward Adrienne Tarver, who recorded five steals and six rebounds, while holding Glenelg Country’s prolific scorer Ashley Dolgoff to just three points.
Park’s senior guard Lucie Weinberg chipped in 13 points and three steals. Freshman forward Akira Townes added 11 points and seven boards. For Glenelg Country, guard Sonia Swaray led the way with eight points and several steals.
The game was close at the half, with Park maintaining just a 19-14 advantage, but the Bruins picked up the intensity in the second half, outscoring GCS, 30-9.
Park’s injury woes continued, with three players sidelined during the course of the game. The Bruins travel to Catholic on Friday evening for a classic in-conference tussle. Glenelg Country's next game will also be at Catholic High, but not until Dec. 21.
